Leotards may be her frequent uniform of choice, but Sunisa “Suni” Lee got to slip into something a little less stretchy and a lot more glamorous when she attended the 2025 Gold Gala on Saturday evening.
For the event, Lee was styled by Brian Meller in an angelic white gown from New York-based designer Andrew Kwon.
The dress was composed of an iridescent white fabric that shimmered like crystallized snow when the light hit it. Along the top, the plunging neckline featured hand-draped sleeves the hung along the gymnast’s arms and swirled around the back like a shawl. Meanwhile, the shimmering material hugged Lee’s body all along the torso to create a column silhouette.

To complete the look, the Olympics medalist wore a dazzling silver princess necklace and matching rings, while also putting on a pair of pointy heels that were mostly engulfed by the skirt of her gown.
On the evening of the Gold Gala, Lee was awarded with the A1 Honor for Sports & Gaming, thanks to her contributions to athletics as a world-class gymnast.

The Gold Gala is an annual event hosted by nonprofit Gold House as a way to highlight the work of Asian and Pacific Islander (AAPI) leaders across various industries. Held only a few days after the Met Gala, the ceremony brings together various stars from the fields of music, acting, sports, and more. This year, it once again took place at the Music Center in Los Angeles.
Due to the meaning behind the event, Kwon was a fitting choice for Lee to champion, and the designer expressed his gratitude in a heartfelt post on Instagram. “Suni, your grace and talent are a rare light in this world. It was an honor to dress you for such a momentous occasion — your honoring at the 2025 Gold Gala,” the Korean-American designer wrote. “Watching person after person approach you with stories like, ‘My kid started gymnastics because of you,’ was deeply moving. You floated with playful elegance in my gown, radiating beauty and strength. I’m so lucky to now call you a friend and muse. Congratulations — and thank you for inspiring millions across the globe.”
